In the interest of full disclosure, newborn photography really isn’t my thing.
I love babies – there’s huge age gaps between me and my sister and brother (I’m 26 – Grace is 17 – Sam is about to turn 9) so I vividly remember them as babies. In fact, I was in the delivery room for both births.
It’s just that newborn photography is much more difficult than one would think and requires lots of patience and time – and really good light.
But the more I shoot the more I understand that the reason why I do what I do is to capture relationships, and what is more pure than the relationship between a mother and her brand new baby? A father and his brand new baby? I think it’s beautiful, so little Lydia might have convinced me to give it more consideration in the future.
Anyway, one of my best friends in the world had a baby girl last week. She’s a beautiful little sleepy thing, and I say that completely aware that 72% of all newborns tend to look like wrinkly old men with great potential to morph into adorable drooly giggly little things.
We visited Kara & TW yesterday for a few minutes and I was able to get some photos to capture her in all her beautiful newbornness.
