I’m related to these people (and they call me “M-N-E”) | Emily Porter Photo | West Virginia Portrait & Wedding Photography

I’m related to these people (and they call me “M-N-E”)

April 30, 2010

Meet Brendan, Jamie, Katherine, and Owen. Brendan is one of my mom’s three brothers. You can actually see a few shots of them here and there in this VERY FIRST POST on this blog two summers ago (crazy!!).

Brendan and Jamie actually call me “M-N-E” because when my sister was little and learning to say my name, she couldn’t pronounce “Emily” and instead referred to me as “M-N-E” for awhile.

Now, I say this all the time, but truly my favorite part about my “job” is that I can capture all the different facets of relationships. Doing this is even more special when I’m working with people I already know. Working with this branch of my family was really neat. When I sent Jamie the link to the proofs, I mentioned that my favorite shots of the morning were the “in between” moments. She agreed.

So here are some of my favorite in between moments during the short hour I spent with my aunt & uncle & cousins. They really are some of the most wonderful people I know, and it was an honor to capture these moments for them.

To those of you who know Brendan, it should come as no surprise that this was the first photo I snapped during the session:

I love these next few of a mother cuddling on a blanket with her children:

After restraining themselves for some “classic” photos, it was time to get silly:

After getting silly, it was time to chase dad around for awhile:

I’m not exactly sure what Brendan & Jamie were up to behind me to get these two to laugh so hard, but it worked.

No, wait – it’s coming back to me now. Brendan was getting ready to give me a wet willy!!! Katherine liked the idea-

More silliness:

I love, love, love these last few of just Brendan & Jamie. Below, Brendan re-enacts his first meeting with Jamie…. “Hi, I’m Brendan Leary.”

This just really nails these two:

So, there you have it. My family. I love them. Hopefully after reading through this post, you can see why.

Thanks so much for spending time with me and allowing me to snap these photos, Learys-B. I love you guys!!!

Your work is incredible, and it’s one of our great joys to be related to you! Thank you for capturing a slice of who we are, each of us and as a family. I will treasure these photos.

  3. Yo. I just simply want to actually make a good swift commentary and also let you recognize that in fact I’ve been pursuing your page for quite some time. Keep up the very superb work and I’ll be returning back much more rapidly.
